It’s not every day a customer calls with a three-hour deadline.

A major international hotel group found themselves in a bit of a bind. With guest check-in just hours away, they discovered they had completely run out of hotel key cards. Their usual supplier couldn’t turn around a new order in time, so they reached out to Imprint Plus to see if there was anything we could do.

There was.

Even though it was their first time ordering from us, our team quickly got to work. With some fast coordination and a little teamwork behind the scenes, we were able to process and prepare their key card order in under two hours.

But we didn’t stop there. The customer arranged to pick up the order directly from our warehouse in Richmond, BC, getting their key cards in hand before guests started arriving.

Crisis averted.

What started as an urgent, last-minute request turned into a great first experience with Imprint Plus. The customer was incredibly appreciative of how quickly our team responded, sharing that they plan to make Imprint Plus their regular supplier for key cards and name badges moving forward.

That’s one of the perks of working with a Canadian supplier like Imprint Plus. With warehousing and customer support right here in Canada, Canadian hotels and hospitality teams have a local partner close by when they need products quickly.

For Canadian hospitality teams, it’s one more reason to keep a supplier close to home.

Meet the New Beveled Badge /ca/blog/post/meet-the-beveled-badge/ca/blog/post/meet-the-beveled-badge#html-body [data-pb-style=DI43Y1T],#html-body [data-pb-style=G4YJ0N6],#html-body [data-pb-style=WSJPWTM]{background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll}#html-body [data-pb-style=G4YJ0N6],#html-body [data-pb-style=WSJPWTM]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;margin-bottom:10px}#html-body [data-pb-style=DI43Y1T]{align-self:stretch}#html-body [data-pb-style=EUNA6VH]{display:flex;width:100%}#html-body [data-pb-style=AE979VW]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll;width:50%;align-self:stretch}#html-body [data-pb-style=SHPS2WD]{padding-right:20px}#html-body [data-pb-style=O5Q94KG]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll;width:50%;align-self:stretch}#html-body [data-pb-style=HV8NFMO]{border-style:none}#html-body [data-pb-style=DYHIKR6],#html-body [data-pb-style=LY6SUMG]{max-width:100%;height:auto}@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) { #html-body [data-pb-style=HV8NFMO]{border-style:none} }

Sometimes, it’s the little details that pull a team’s look together.

A great name badge helps customers know who they’re talking to, but it can also be part of your overall brand experience. That’s what inspired our newest name badge: The Beveled Badge.

With its angled edge and clean design, the Beveled Badge gives a classic name badge a more dimensional look. The beveled edge catches the light as you move, creating subtle highlights that help the badge stand out without being flashy.

A little more dimension. A lot more personality.

Think of the beveled edge like the detail you’d find on a piece of jewelry. It adds depth and a touch of shine, giving the badge a more refined, eye-catching appearance.

It’s a small design detail, but you notice it.

And when your team is wearing their badges all day, those details can make a difference. The Beveled Badge brings a polished look to uniforms while keeping names clear and easy to see.

Designed to stand out

Your name badge doesn’t have to be boring.

Add your company logo, employee name, title, or other details to create a name badge that feels like it belongs to your brand. The dimensional design adds visual interest, while the clean face keeps the important information easy to read.

Whether it’s worn at a hotel front desk, on a retail floor, or anywhere your team connects with customers, the Beveled Badge adds a little something extra to every interaction.

Comfortable enough for every shift

Good design isn’t just about how a badge looks. It needs to work for the people wearing it, too.

The Beveled Badge is lightweight and designed for comfortable all-day wear, with pin and magnetic fastening options to fit your team.

A polished look with a little extra sparkle

If you’re looking for something beyond a standard flat name badge, the Beveled Badge offers an easy upgrade.

Ready to take a closer look? Explore the new Beveled Badge and give your team a name badge that stands out.

We’re putting the spotlight on Jhesusa, our latest Wall of Success winner!

Jhesusa was already grateful to be nominated, so being chosen as this month’s winner was a pretty special moment. And honestly, that says a lot about Jhesusa. She’s someone who notices the people around her, values strong relationships and doesn’t take recognition for granted.

Good Work Starts With Good Conversations

For Jhesusa, some of the biggest wins don’t always come with a big announcement or a finished project.

A lot of great work starts with a conversation.

Listening. Asking questions. Learning from someone else’s perspective. Those moments help Jhesusa connect the dots and figure out how to move things forward. She believes the results tend to follow when you take the time to understand the people and ideas behind the work.

The Behind-the-Scenes Connector

There’s a lot more to Jhesusa’s role than what you might see.

She spends a lot of time bringing people together, coordinating details, working through ideas and making sure all the pieces line up. It takes curiosity, collaboration and a pretty good eye for detail to keep everything moving in the right direction

In other words, she’s one of the people helping make the behind-the-scenes work look easy.

More Than Just a Badge

Jhesusa also has an interesting perspective on what we do here at Imprint Plus.

To her, ID solutions aren’t simply another business expense. They’re an investment in the bigger picture. The right badge, ID card or identification solution can strengthen a brand, create a better customer or guest experience, support security and bring consistency across an organization.

Sometimes, the smallest details can have a bigger impact than we realize.

Her Ideal Two-Day Getaway? Keeping It Simple.

When she’s not working, Jhesusa enjoys spending time with her family and making space for a little self-care.

Give her a spontaneous two-day break and she wouldn’t need an elaborate itinerary. Just some quality family time, a chance to recharge and a little room to slow down.

Sounds pretty good to us.

⚡ Jhesusa’s Quick Picks

Coffee or Tea? Tea

Sweet or Salty? Salty

Early Bird or Night Owl? Night Owl

Plan or Go With the Flow? Plan

Go-To Food? There are a lot of contenders, but right now? Butternut squash ravioli.

“Here for the Journey”

If Jhesusa had her very own custom Badge Talker, there’s no question what it would say: Here for the Journey

It feels pretty fitting.

Jhesusa is excited about what’s ahead at Imprint Plus and wants to keep learning, growing and finding new ways to make a positive impact. She sees the future as a chance to keep building on what she’s learned and contribute wherever she can.

Her advice to anyone new at Imprint Plus?

Leave the ego at the door.

For Jhesusa, humility can take you a long way. It opens doors, helps build genuine relationships and reminds you that there’s always something new to learn, no matter how much experience you have.

Come Say Hi

Jhesusa is always happy to chat, and she genuinely believes everyone has something they can teach her. At the same time, she hopes she can share a thing or two with the people around her.

So, if you haven’t had a chance to get to know Jhesusa yet, consider this your invitation to start a conversation.

Congratulations, Jhesusa! We’re so happy to celebrate you.

Have you ever noticed how quickly a name badge tells you who you can ask for help in a store?

It’s a small detail, but it makes a difference. Whether you’re looking for a different size, trying to find a product, or heading to the checkout, a clear name badge helps make those interactions feel easier and more personal.

That’s why we’re excited to partner with Nordstrom Rack as their name badge provider.

With stores across USA, Nordstrom Rack chose custom plastic name badges with a sleek metallic finish and a bold black logo, a design that feels clean, modern, and instantly recognizable on the sales floor.

Why Employee ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Matter in Retail

Retail employees are constantly interacting with customers. They answer questions, make recommendations, restock shelves, and keep stores running smoothly.

But sometimes, they can be hard to spot. In some retail environments, employees don’t wear standard uniforms and may be dressed in everyday clothes. An employee name badge gives customers an easy way to identify who works there and who they can turn to for help, making those conversations feel more approachable from the start.

For retailers, it’s also an extension of the brand. When every team member wears a consistent, professional-looking badge, it creates a polished appearance across every location.

Employee ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Matter in RetailEmployee ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï Matter in Retail

Built for Busy Retail Teams

A retail name badge has to do more than look good. It needs to stand up to everyday wear while staying comfortable enough to wear all shift.

Nordstrom Rack’s custom plastic badges with a metallic finish offer the polished look of metal while remaining lightweight and practical for a fast-paced retail environment. Paired with the bold black logo, the design keeps the brand front and center without distracting from the employee’s name.

Plastic name badges are also a cost-effective option for retail teams. With employees spread across multiple locations and names changing as teams grow and change, replacement costs can add up. Choosing a durable, affordable badge can help keep the cost of updating and replacing name badges manageable.

Consistency across every location

For retailers with stores across the country, consistency matters. Customers expect the same brand experience wherever they shop, and employee identification is part of that experience.

A standardized name badge program helps create that consistency, making it easier to keep teams looking professional as stores grow and employees change.

Keep an eye out

Next time you’re shopping at Nordstrom Rack, take a look at the team’s new name badges. You might just spot a little Imprint Plus craftsmanship in action.

We’re proud to help retailers create custom name badges that make it easier for customers to connect with employees while keeping every location looking on-brand.

Ready to Set Your Retail Team Up for Success?

Whether you’re outfitting one store or a team across multiple locations, Imprint Plus makes it easy to create custom name badges that look professional, keep employees easy to identify, and fit your brand. From design to production, the team can help you find a badge solution that works for your retail environment.

The Three-Peat Is Official: Imprint Plus Named One of PPAI’s Greatest Companies To Work For Three Years in a Row/ca/blog/post/imprint-plus-named-one-of-PPAIs-greatest-comapnies-to-work-for-three-years-in-a-row/ca/blog/post/imprint-plus-named-one-of-PPAIs-greatest-comapnies-to-work-for-three-years-in-a-row#html-body [data-pb-style=B5MK6KB],#html-body [data-pb-style=CTCSGTR],#html-body [data-pb-style=IDVR4EH],#html-body [data-pb-style=OO5PL7T],#html-body [data-pb-style=OYPKW2A]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll;margin-bottom:10px}#html-body [data-pb-style=MXTG3A8]{text-align:center;border-style:none}#html-body [data-pb-style=M96L4I5],#html-body [data-pb-style=PCYRMKB]{max-width:100%;height:auto}#html-body [data-pb-style=ICJWY4M]{text-align:center;border-style:none}#html-body [data-pb-style=EITRUO6],#html-body [data-pb-style=SNBIR1G]{max-width:100%;height:auto}@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) { #html-body [data-pb-style=ICJWY4M],#html-body [data-pb-style=MXTG3A8]{border-style:none} }

Three Years. Three Wins. One Great Team.

Imprint Plus is proud to be named one of PPAI’s Greatest Companies To Work For in 2026, making it the third year in a row. And yes, we’re calling it a three-peat.

The award, presented by the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), recognizes companies based on feedback from their employees. That’s what makes this recognition especially meaningful. It comes from the people who experience our workplace every day.

Three years in a row is a pretty big deal. But more than anything, it’s a reflection of the people behind Imprint Plus and the team that makes this a great place to work.

A workplace built around its people

Imprint Plus is made up of a lot of different teams, roles, and personalities, and that’s part of what makes it work. From the people making products and helping customers to the teams behind sales, marketing, operations, and everything in between, everyone brings something different to the table

This PPAI recognition highlights many of the qualities employees value at Imprint Plus, including work/life balance, confidence in leadership, strong values and ethics, teamwork, open communication and opportunities for growth.

Those qualities don't happen by accident. They come from everyday efforts to create an environment where people are encouraged to share ideas, take ownership of their work, support one another and continue learning.

Our values of innovation, service excellence, quality, accountability, and teamwork shape the way we approach our work every day. They influence how we solve problems, support our customers and each other, and take pride in what we do.

Three years of recognition

Being recognized once is an accomplishment. Being recognized for three consecutive years makes it something the entire team can be proud of.

In 2024, Imprint Plus was recognized among PPAI's Greatest Companies To Work For, with employees pointing to growth opportunities, excellent teamwork and open-minded leadership as some of the things they valued about working at the company.

The company was recognized again in 2025, when employees highlighted good communication, training and tools, efficiency and excellence, and confidence in their futures.

Now, with a third consecutive recognition in 2026, the achievement represents something bigger: a culture that continues to grow while staying focused on the people behind the work.

Thank you to the Imprint Plus team

This recognition belongs to everyone at Imprint Plus.

Thank you to the people who bring new ideas to the table, help a teammate through a busy day, solve problems for customers, keep things moving behind the scenes and make Imprint Plus a place where people can do their best work.

Here's to the people who make Imprint Plus a great place to work.

Summer is winding down, and many businesses are preparing for staffing changes as student employees return to school, seasonal contracts end, and schedules shift.

Whether you manage a restaurant, hotel, retail store, or attraction, this time of year often means balancing onboarding, training, and maintaining the level of customer service your business is known for.

If you’re bringing in new hires to fill in the gaps, you may be asking: how can I prepare for this transition period so that my team feels supported?

The good news is, a little preparation goes a long way in helping your team stay organized, professional, and customer-ready throughout the transition.

Here are 5 Ways to Prepare for End-of-Summer Staff Turnover

1. Prepare before your new hires arrive

A smooth first day starts before an employee walks through the door. Having uniforms, training materials, schedules, and name badges ready helps new team members settle in faster and feel like part of the team from day one.

It also allows managers spend more time training employees and less time chasing down last-minute supplies.

2. Make employees easy to identify

Customers should be able to identify your team members immediately.

Professional name badges make it easy for customers to approach the right person, ask questions, and feel confident they're speaking with a member of your team.

Your current team members also benefit from knowing who's new. Name badges make introductions easier and help employees learn each other's names more quickly, creating a more connected and collaborative workplace.

For new hires, wearing a name badge can help build confidence during those first few days. As they're meeting coworkers, managers, and customers, a simple name badge makes introductions feel more natural and helps them settle into their new role faster.

3. Help customers recognize employees in training

Small details can make the biggest difference during onboarding.

Badge Talkers are a simple way to let customers know when an employee is still learning. A small "In Training" badge attachment helps set expectations while encouraging patience and understanding.

This way, your new hires can learn in a supportive environment that helps them build confidence as they settle in.

Badge Talkers can also be used to highlight languages spoken, years of service, certifications, or current promotions.

4. Choose a badge system that can grow with your team

If your business hires seasonal employees multiple times every year, replacing name badges over and over can quickly become expensive.

Reusable systems like The Mighty Badge™ make it easy to update employee names without replacing the entire badge. Simply print a new insert and swap it into the existing badge frame.

It's a practical solution for businesses with frequent staffing changes, helping reduce waste and costs, while keeping every employee looking professional.

This way, you’ll always be prepared to welcome new hires, no matter when staffing changes happen.

5. Work with a partner that can keep up

Staffing changes happen often and happen quickly, so having a reliable name badge supplier can make all the difference.

Imprint Plus has helped more than 77,000 customers worldwide create professional employee identification solutions that fit their business. From reusable name badge systems to fully customized badges, every product is manufactured in-house with support available from design through delivery.

Whether you're welcoming a few new hires or outfitting teams across multiple locations, Imprint Plus can support orders of any size while making it easy to keep your branding consistent from one location to the next.

End-of-summer staffing changes are a natural part of doing business, but they don't have to disrupt the customer experience. By preparing ahead of time, making employees easy to identify, and choosing identification solutions that can adapt as your team changes, you can create a smoother transition for both employees and customers.

Busy tourism periods can bring a different kind of pace to a business. Hotels are welcoming more guests, attractions are seeing heavier traffic, restaurants are turning more tables, and teams are working at full speed to keep everything running smoothly.

For the employees behind those experiences, that usually means busier, more active shifts with a faster pace, more guest interactions, more multitasking, and a lot of behind-the-scenes effort to stay helpful, professional and present through it all.

As the busiest stretch starts to ease, it can be tempting to move on to the next big push. But that wind-down period is usually when employee recognition matters most. It’s a chance to show your team that their effort was noticed, the work they put in mattered, and that the company values the role they played in keeping guest experience strong.

Why employee recognition matters after a busy period

  • It helps people feel seen

When a team has spent weeks or months handling higher guest volumes and a heavier workload, a little recognition can go a long way. It doesn’t need to be a big production to have an impact, but taking the time to recognize the extra effort, flexibility, and care employees brought to the job can mean a lot.

Whether it’s a simple thank you or a more tangible token of appreciation, recognition helps show employees that the work they put in during one of the busiest times of year didn’t go unnoticed.

  • It can help rebuild morale

Busy tourism periods can be exciting, but they can also be exhausting. Even a strong season can leave teams feeling drained by the pace and pressure that came with it.

Recognition gives businesses an opportunity to pause and say, we saw how much you took on, and we appreciate it. That kind of acknowledgement can help lift morale and bring some energy back to the team.

  • It supports a culture of appreciation

Recognition shapes workplace culture. When appreciation is part of how a business supports its team, it creates an environment where employees feel respected, connected to the work they do, and proud of the role they play in the guest experience. Over time, those small moments of recognition can help strengthen team culture in a very real way.

4 Employee recognition ideas for your team

Recognition doesn’t need a big budget to make an impact. Sometimes, the most meaningful efforts are simple ones.

  1. Thank-you notes - A handwritten note can go a long way in making recognition feel more personal and genuine.

  2. Team lunch or outing - A team lunch or outing gives your team a chance to step away from the day-to-day and spend time together in a more relaxed setting.

  3. Give a shoutout - A shoutout during a team meeting or in an internal communication is a simple way to recognize employees.

  4. A small gift or reward - A small gift or reward can be a simple way to thank employees for their effort and make recognition feel a little more tangible.

Make recognition more tangible with employee recognition products

Sometimes the best kind of recognition is something employees can actually hold and keep. Tangible recognition products turn appreciation into something visible, whether that’s a lapel pin that marks years of service, a medallion that celebrates an achievement, or a badge add-on that shows someone has gone above and beyond.

They help make recognition feel a little more real, and in many cases, they’re wearable too, giving employees a way to show off their achievements, while giving customers the confidence of knowing they’re in good hands.

Employee Recognition Products for Hospitality and Customer-Facing Teams

  • Lapel Pins – Lapel pins are a stylish way to recognize years of service, celebrate milestones, or call out employee achievements. Imprint Plus offers years of service pins, as well as custom hard enamel, soft enamel, and sandblast options, so it’s easy to customize them to your recognition program or brand.

  • Medallions – Medallions attach directly to a name badge, so milestones, achievements, or years of service can be displayed right on the employee’s badge. Imprint Plus offers employee of the month, star reward, years of service, and custom medallion options.

  • Badge Talkers – Use custom Badge Talkers to highlight milestones, special recognition, training status, or achievements right on a name badge, so recognition is more visible day to day.

  • Custom Buttons – Custom buttons are a fun and eye-catching option for recognition, team celebrations, appreciation events, or internal campaigns.

  • Name Badge Pouches – Canvas pouches are a thoughtful finishing touch, keeping employee appreciation pieces neatly packaged and ready to hand out.

Build recognition into everyday team culture

Ongoing employee appreciation efforts can be just as important as recognition after a peak season. When recognition is built into day-to-day operations, it gives teams a steady boost of energy throughout the year, reinforces positive performance, and helps appreciation feel more genuine over time.

Instead of only celebrating employees after a busy period, businesses can create repeatable ways to recognize contributions year-round, making recognition a more natural part of company culture.

A name badge program can do more than identify staff. It can become a way to build recognition into everyday team culture. With employee name tags and accessories, businesses can highlight top performers, celebrate milestones, recognize achievements, or call out employees who go above and beyond.

These small, visible touches help employees feel seen for their contributions while giving managers a consistent way to reinforce appreciation, boost morale, and create a stronger sense of pride across the team.

If you’re ready to make employee recognition a more visible part of your team culture, Imprint Plus can help. Contact us to find the right solution for your team.

Wall of Success Spotlight: Meet Angela Lee/ca/blog/post/wall-of-success-angela-lee-digital-commerce-lead/ca/blog/post/wall-of-success-angela-lee-digital-commerce-lead#html-body [data-pb-style=TLBFWJC]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll;margin-bottom:10px}

If you ask Angela Lee what a Digital Commerce Lead does, she won’t launch into jargon. She’ll tell you she keeps the online store running so customers never have to think about it. Buttons that work. Pages that load. Orders that go through without drama.

If e-commerce were a vending machine, Angela is the person quietly restocking it, fixing the jammed slot, and making sure nobody loses their snack. You rarely notice her when everything works, which is exactly the point.

She’s calm, sharp, and relentlessly thoughtful. The kind of person who solves problems before they turn into tickets.

A Win That Felt Earned

When she found out she’d won Wall of Success again, her reaction was immediate disbelief, followed by a very specific joy. This time, she finally got the air fryer. Small victory, deeply satisfying.

The bigger win was behind the scenes. Angela built the Amazon storefront from scratch and drove real sales without spending a single dollar on ads. No shortcuts. No safety net. Just clean execution and smart decisions.

She’s quick to redirect the spotlight, though. She credits Andrew, her manager and mentor, for his patience and trust, and the entire DCM team for being the rare mix of focused, kind, and genuinely fun to work with. In her words, it’s one of the best teams she’s ever been part of. You can tell she means it.

Her Work, Her Way

What excites Angela most is watching the details click. Design, functionality, content, all lining up so the experience feels effortless for the customer. When sales come through or a positive review lands, it feels like a quiet confirmation that the work mattered.

If there’s one thing she wishes more customers noticed, it’s the care baked into the entire experience. Ecommerce looks simple on the surface, but staying current with platforms, updates, and edge cases takes constant attention. Angela wants customers to feel that smoothness, even if they never see the work behind it.

That invisible polish is her signature.

What People Don’t See

Most people don’t realize Angela spends her day as a digital detective. Tracing glitches. Connecting dots. Occasionally negotiating with her computer when it refuses to cooperate.

One moment still stands out. The first Amazon order. That instant YES when the notification came through. Proof that the whole thing worked.

Outside the Screen

Angela is an early bird in every sense. Up at 6 a.m., asleep by 10 p.m., and fully at peace with that rhythm. She calls it old lady energy, proudly.

She used to spend her free time cooking, exploring nature, and trying new restaurants. Now her adventures revolve around Emma, her dog, and the ongoing mission to find more pet-friendly spots around Vancouver. Mountains are next on the list, trails included.

Quick Picks

Sweet or salty? Salty. Hot soup over boba these days
Coffee or tea? Tea, always. Caffeine is not invited
Mountains or beaches? Mountains
Planner or go-with-the-flow? Planner, with backups
One word friends would use? Reliable

Looking Ahead

Angela is excited to keep refining the digital experience. Smarter reordering. A stronger design system. Faster, smoother interactions that make online shopping feel almost fun. Maybe even with a little digital confetti along the way.

Her advice for anyone new is refreshingly honest. Ask questions. Try things. Laugh when something breaks. You’ll make more impact than you think.

Moving to Vancouver was already a big leap. New city, new routines, everything unfamiliar. Imprint Plus gave her the trust to keep growing, and somehow it’s already been almost three years. She’s grateful for the work, the team, and the space to keep leveling up.

Why Angela Matters

Angela makes things work quietly and consistently. She brings order to chaos, clarity to complexity, and care to systems most people take for granted.

The Wall of Success celebrates results, but it also celebrates the people who make those results possible without needing applause.

Angela is one of those people.

Metal vs. Plastic ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï: Which Is Better for Your Industry /ca/blog/post/metal-vs-plastic-name-badges/ca/blog/post/metal-vs-plastic-name-badges#html-body [data-pb-style=Q52XEYX]{justify-content:flex-start;display:flex;flex-direction:column;background-position:left top;background-size:cover;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-attachment:scroll;margin-bottom:10px}

Metal badges give a premium, durable, high-impact look. Plastic badges offer the best flexibility, customization, and affordability for growing or high-turnover teams. The right material depends on how often your staff changes, how your uniforms are positioned, and how much brand impression matters in your industry.

Why Businesses Compare Metal and Plastic Badges

Choosing the right name badge material has more influence than people expect. Uniform elements shape how customers perceive service quality and professionalism.

A found that uniform details, including visible identification, significantly affect customer trust and perceived service quality. People feel more comfortable and more confident interacting with clearly identified staff.

When teams explore name badge options through providers like Imprint Plus, they often want to understand which material best supports their customer experience, budget, and staffing realities.

Metal and plastic badges both serve different needs. Understanding the differences helps teams make confident decisions instead of guessing.

Metal vs. Plastic ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï at a Glance

Metal Badges

  • More durable and longer lasting
  • Premium and polished aesthetic
  • Best for guest-facing or brand-forward roles
  • Slightly heavier
  • Higher price point
  • Supports engraving and premium printing

Plastic Badges

  • Lightweight and easy to wear
  • Highly customizable with full color printing
  • More affordable per badge
  • Ideal for large or fast-changing teams
  • Supports reusable insert systems
  • Strong enough for everyday use

A Deeper Look at Performance and Material Differences

To make an informed choice, it helps to break down how metal and plastic perform in real environments.

Durability

Metal: Metal badges are built to last. They resist normal wear and tear and hold up well across long shifts, heavy uniforms, or environments with constant guest interaction. Coated metal reduces scratching. However, metal can dent if dropped on hard surfaces.

Plastic: High-quality coated plastic is surprisingly durable. It resists cracking, stays lightweight, and looks polished with proper printing. While it does not match metal’s longevity, it performs well for roles with frequent movement, training cycles, or quick role changes.

Weight and Comfort

Metal: Metal has more weight and presence. On a formal uniform, it feels intentional. On lightweight uniforms, some staff may prefer something lighter.

Plastic: Lightweight plastic excels in physically active or fast-paced settings where comfort matters, such as retail floors, grocery aisles, or event environments.

Customization Options

Metal:

  • Works well with engraving, etching, and contrast printing
  • Ideal for sleek minimal branding
  • Suits luxury, hospitality, and corporate environments

Plastic:

  • Full color printing, gradients, icons, and complex images
  • Custom shapes and sizes available
  • Ideal for brands that want creative or colorful identity elements

Plastic is often chosen for departments that use color-coded or role-coded badges.

Cost Breakdown

Grounded in verified supplier listings:

Plastic ½ñÈճԹϠ

Typical small-volume pricing:

  • 4 to 9 USD per badge

Metal ½ñÈÕ³Ô¹Ï

  • 7 to 15 USD per badge
(Some engraved metal listings go up to 19 USD for low-volume custom orders)

Premium Styles

  • Bamboo-look, wood-inspired, or shaped metals can cost more, depending on finish and volume.

Reusable Insert Frames

Plastic or metal reusable frames:

  • 3 to 8 USD for the frame
  • Inserts cost only cents to replace

Attachment Costs

  • Magnetic backings usually add 1.50 to 2.50 USD
  • Pins or clips are typically included or low-cost

Volume discounts often range between 10 to 40 percent depending on order size.

Which Industries Should Use Metal Badges

Metal badges stand out in industries where brand perception, guest experience, and polished uniforms matter.

Hospitality

  • Hotels, resorts, casino floors, and spas
  • Metal aligns with elevated guest service and premium uniforms.

Restaurants

  • Fine dining, boutique cafés, and formal front-of-house roles
  • Metal communicates professionalism and stronger brand cues.

Corporate Offices

  • Receptionists, administrators, client-facing teams
  • Metal suits business attire and reinforces a cohesive corporate identity.

Healthcare and Clinics

  • Durability and clarity matter in clinical settings
  • Metal withstands repeated cleaning when coated properly.

Luxury Retail

  • Jewelry, cosmetics, premium apparel
  • Badges contribute to the brand experience.

Which Industries Should Use Plastic Badges

Plastic badges shine in fast-paced, high-volume, or high-turnover environments.

Retail Stores

  • Grocery, apparel, electronics, and multi-location retail teams
  • Plastic is lightweight, easy to update, and affordable for large teams.

Quick-Service Restaurants

  • Fast-paced environments where badges must be comfortable and replaceable.

Education and Municipal Staff

  • Schools, libraries, recreation centers
  • Full color printing helps with role clarity and visual identification.

Events and Conferences

  • Short-term staffing, shifting volunteer roles, and seasonal events
  • Plastic provides cost-effective consistency.

Large Teams with Ongoing Hiring

  • Teams that update job titles or onboard many employees benefit from reusable plastic badge systems.

Reusable vs Non-Reusable: Material Matters Less Than the System

Many teams do not realize that both metal and plastic can be reusable.

  • Metal frames with insert windows
  • Plastic frames with insert slots
  • Badge talkers for roles, seasonal tags, or promotions

Reusable systems, including options offered by Imprint Plus, help teams avoid reordering entire badges when names or titles change. This matters most for retail, dining, and hospitality teams who update their roster often.

Environmental Considerations

Plastic Options
Some coated plastics are lightweight, long-lasting, and available in lower-waste formulations.

Metal Options
Metal is durable, which means fewer reorders. Some types can be recycled depending on the finish.

Bamboo-Look Alternatives
Wood-inspired finishes provide a natural aesthetic for brands prioritizing eco-friendly visuals without sacrificing durability.

Common Misconceptions About Metal and Plastic Badges

“Plastic looks cheap.â€
High-quality coated plastic with proper printing looks polished and professional.

“Metal is too heavy.â€
Modern alloys are lighter than older materials and feel comfortable even during long shifts.

“Metal is always expensive.â€
Bulk pricing and reusable frames make metal more accessible than many expect.

“Plastic breaks easily.â€
Coated plastic is stronger than people assume and holds up well for active roles.

Real Industry Scenarios

Scenario 1: A Boutique Hotel Redesigns Its Uniforms
They choose metal badges for the front desk and concierge because it reinforces their brand’s premium feel. Back-of-house chooses plastic reusable badges for practicality.

Scenario 2: A National Grocery Chain Needs 200 Seasonal Hires
Plastic reusable badges keep costs predictable. Managers only update inserts for promotions or new names.

Scenario 3: A Café Chain Modernizes Staff Appearance
Metal badges for supervisors, plastic badges for rotating roles like barista, runner, and cashier.

Scenario 4: A Multi-Location Corporate Office
Metal badges for client-facing jobs and plastic badges for administrative teams who update titles often.
